Job summary

Elephants Delicatessen is seeking team members for full-time/part-time, on-call roles across Portland locations. Shifts run from 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. with a requirement of at least 64 hours per pay period and flexibility for scheduling based on business needs.

The role involves delivering friendly service, handling transactions, preparing beverages and food, stocking, and maintaining a clean, efficient work area across multiple deli locations.

Qualifications

• Current Oregon Food Handler's card.
• Current OLCC Permit.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Ability to stand for 8+ hours.
• Reliable and punctual.

Responsibilities

• Deliver warm, helpful customer service and greet and direct guests.
• Handle cash and customer transactions accurately.
• Heat, serve, and hold food at proper temperatures according to health codes.
• Stock and maintain the sales floor, displays, and service areas.
• Prepare espresso drinks, teas, specialty drinks, and alcoholic beverages as needed.
• Set up and break down kitchen lines and grill stations.
• Prep food according to pars and follow proper food storage, labeling, sanitation, and hygiene standards.
• Assist with dishwashing, bussing tables, sweeping, mopping, cleaning equipment, disposing of trash and recycling, and maintaining a clean work area.
• Work at multiple locations across the Portland area.
• Communicate waste, equipment repair needs, and operational concerns to supervisors.

Salary: $24.50 - $27.50/hour ($17.50/hour + tips, which average an additional $5-$7/hour)

Schedule

Schedule: This is a part-time to full-time, on-call position with shifts assigned based on business needs. Complete open availability is required for all days, with hours ranging from 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Employees must be willing to work at least 64 hours per pay period.

• Barista experience preferred but not required
• Food Handler’s card or ServSafe certification.
• OLCC certification
• A genuine passion for hospitality and team development
• Reliability, accountability, and a collaborative mindset
• Valid driver’s license.
• Reliable personal vehicle for travel between deli locations.
• Ability to stand for 8+ hours with occasional breaks and occasionally reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing 25 pounds or less.
