Job summary

Master Concessionair in Newark, NJ seeks an Assistant Manager to assist the Manager in daily restaurant operations, including BOH and FOH staffing, training, and revenue tracking. You will lead by example, solve problems, and ensure top customer service while maintaining safety and cleanliness across all areas.

Special focus areas may include Bar, Market or Commissary, with duties like inventory counts, ordering, and scheduling. Strong leadership and communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience in restaurants.
• Knowledge of marketing techniques and impact on business results.
• Experience in guest relations, negotiations, and complaint handling.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Commitment to service of customers, staff, co-workers, and management.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all MCA/Brand operating procedures and ensure adherence by all staff.
• Attend and contribute to management meetings as required.
• Schedule and lead pre-shift and post-shift meetings; post communications to staff.
• Ensure supervisor/employee duties are performed and completed timely.
• Record deliveries; reconcile inventories with purchase orders.
• Maintain stock, display items, and proper temperatures for perishables.
• Complete daily reporting reflecting MCA/Brand procedures and documentation.
• Suggest and implement strategies to increase revenue.
• Ensure all cash payments are recorded and receipts provided.
• End-of-night reporting to ensure accurate transaction records.
• Balance cash items daily and manage deposits and safe.
• Maintain cleanliness of restaurant, market, and bar.
• Monitor staff orientation, development, and performance management.
• Assist staff during busy periods; complete weekly staff scheduling.
• Assess staff strengths and development opportunities.
• Ensure punctuality and appropriate attire; address performance issues.
• Ensure health & safety compliance and timely communications with GM.
• Maintain high level of guest service; handle complaints efficiently.
• Record accidents and incidents using proper procedures.
