Big 5 Sporting Goods Corporation is seeking an Assistant Manager for a part-time role in our Solana Beach store. You will lead store operations in the manager's absence, provide outstanding customer service, and supervise staff while promoting our products.

This position supports growth into higher management under experienced guidance, with a structured training program. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, sports-minded, and able to work a flexible schedule in a fast-paced retail environment,

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Operate the store in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Deliver excellent customer service and assist customers throughout the store.
• Answer phone calls and respond to customer inquiries.
• Recommend products and suggest add-on sales.
• Merchandise and enforce company policies.
• Set promotional signage and maintain stockroom inventory.
• Open and close the store and train new associates.
• Direct sales and cashier staff; manage inventory loss prevention.

Primary Duties

• Successful operation of store in the absence of the Store Manager
• Provide excellent customer service andassistcustomers throughout the store
• Answer phone calls and respond to customer inquiries
• Recommend products and suggest add-on sales
• Merchandising and complianceofall company policies
• Setting promotional signage
• Checking and retrieving merchandise from stockroom as needed
• Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked sales floor
• Opening and closing of the store
• Training newly hired associates
• Directing sales and cashier associates throughout the store
• Inventory control and enforcement of loss prevention policies
• Enforcement of all company policies
• Performs or may performadditionalduties as assigned by management and supervision

Position Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Strong communicationand interpersonal skills

• Basic knowledge of sporting goods is a plus
• MustpossessHigh School diploma, GED, or High School Equivalency Exam
