Assistant Materials Manager
Are you ready to take on a leadership role that drives the heartbeat of production? As the Assistant Materials Manager, you’ll lead critical functions across procurement, production planning, inventory control, and shipping to ensure efficient and reliable material flow throughout the operation. You’ll play a key role in the monthly Sales & Inventory Operations Planning (SIOP) cycle—aligning teams across Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, and the Business Unit to deliver accurate forecasts and effective execution. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who thrives on collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
What You Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
- Supervisory or management experience leading materials, planning, or inventory teams
- Proven experience with Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP/SIOP) processes
- Strong knowledge of SAP (required)
- Lean or Six Sigma certification—or at least 3 years of experience leading Continuous Improvement projects
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams
- Proven ability to identify, prioritize, and resolve operational challenges in a fast-paced environment
What You Will Do
- Lead the SIOP Process: Compile and analyze monthly SIOP data, collaborating with Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, and Business Units to drive consensus and ensure alignment on future production plans.
- Manage Inventory & Production Planning: Oversee forecasting, reporting, and execution of production schedules to maintain optimal inventory levels and meet customer demand.
- Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements within the materials function to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and communication across departments.
- Develop & Lead Teams: Directly manage the Production Planning and Inventory Control teams, providing mentorship, training, and performance development.
- Deliver Insightful Reporting: Prepare and present executive-level reports on SIOP performance, inventory metrics, and materials management results.
- Support Strategic Projects: Partner with leadership on initiatives that optimize material flow, reduce costs, and strengthen supply chain reliability.
- Champion Collaboration: Build strong cross-functional relationships to support operations, proactively address bottlenecks, and drive alignment from planning to production.
- Foster a Culture of Accountability: Establish and monitor key performance metrics while promoting ownership, teamwork, and results across your team.
