Job summary

DwyerOmega in Wisconsin is seeking a Materials Manager to lead material planning, production scheduling, and logistics execution, ensuring on-time shipments and optimized inventory.

You will own the production control function, drive continuous improvement, manage cross-functional teams, and partner with supply chain to mitigate risks and improve delivery performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or related field.
  • Equivalent experience considered.
  • 5+ years in materials management, production control, or logistics.
  • Experience leading teams across scheduling and warehouse functions. 3-5 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong ERP/MRP experience.
  • Lean / Continuous Improvement experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop teams across scheduling, shipping, receiving, warehouse, and inventory control.
  • Own creation and execution of the production schedule to meet customer demand.
  • Drive schedule adherence through monitoring work orders, WIP, and output.
  • Coordinate material flow including kitting, staging, and replenishment.
  • Oversee receiving processes, shipping operations, and logistics optimization.
  • Support sourcing and supplier performance; mitigate supply risks and improve lead times.
  • Identify disruptions to maintain a stable production environment and drive rapid resolution.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and provide visibility to risks and performance.

Summary

The Materials Manager serves as the critical link between material planning, production scheduling, supply chain strategy, and shop floor execution, driving a stable, predictable production environment. The role combines leadership of materials management with direct ownership of production control and logistics execution. This position plays a key role in delivering on-time shipments, optimizing inventory, and enabling operational excellence through strong daily management, cross-functional coordination, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead and develop teams across scheduling, shipping, receiving, warehouse, and inventory control.
  • Establish clear accountability, standard work, and performance expectations.
  • Promote a culture of safety, ownership, and continuous improvement.
Production Control & Schedule Execution
  • Own creation and execution of the production schedule to meet customer demand.
  • Drive schedule adherence through monitoring work orders, WIP, and output.
  • Identify risks early and take action to protect delivery performance.
  • Ensure alignment between production plans, capacity, and material availability.
Material Planning & Flow
  • Ensure timely availability of materials to support production schedules.
  • Coordinate material flow including kitting, staging, and replenishment.
  • Resolve material shortages and bottlenecks quickly.
  • Align inventory levels with production needs.
Inventory & Warehouse Management
  • Maintain inventory control processes to ensure accuracy and optimal levels.
  • Minimize excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Ensure accuracy through cycle counts and audits.
Shipping, Receiving & Logistics
  • Oversee receiving processes for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Lead shipping operations to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Optimize logistics processes for efficiency and cost.
  • Ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
Purchasing & Supplier Coordination
  • Support sourcing and supplier performance.
  • Collaborate to mitigate supply risks and improve lead times.
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships.
Flow Stability & Issue Resolution
  • Maintain a stable production environment by identifying disruptions.
  • Drive rapid escalation and resolution of issues.
  • Partner cross-functionally to remove constraints.
Process Improvement & Reporting
  • Analyze performance data to improve flow, cost, and delivery.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Utilize ERP/MRP systems for execution and reporting.
  • Provide visibility to risks and performance.
Requirements
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or related field.
  • Equivalent experience considered.
Experience
  • 5+ years in materials management, production control, or logistics.
  • Experience leading teams across scheduling and warehouse functions. 3-5 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong ERP/MRP experience.
  • Lean / Continuous Improvement experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
  • Moderate noise environment typical of a manufacturing setting.
