Pima Community College is seeking a Facilities and Operations Assistant Manager to oversee campus maintenance operations, supervise contractors, and drive capital projects at multiple locations in Tucson. The role involves budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating repairs across HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems, with on-call and evening/weekend duties.
The position requires 3–5 years of related maintenance experience, a high school diploma or GED, and a valid Arizona driver license.
The Facilities and Operations Assistant Manager manages campus maintenance operations to ensure buildings are safe. Oversees work performed by contractors. Implements capital and campus improvement projects for the College. Supervises maintenance and repair of the assigned location such as 29th Street, District Office, and Aviation Technology Center. Assists establishment of short and long term projects related to maintenance and operations activities.
The work schedule for this position is flexible and may include working evenings and weekends and local travel. This job may have On-call rotation duties.
Five to eight years of related experience with equipment maintenance
Environment: Work is performed primarily in a non-traditional work environment with staff contact and frequent interruptions.
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an non-traditional work setting; to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time; to frequently position self to perform duties, which may include: traversing uneven ground, ascending/descending ladders, and/or working atop high or narrow surfaces; to move, transport, and/or position moderate to heavy (over 50 pounds) amounts of weight; to operate various equipment required to perform job; may be required to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to effectively communicate to exchange information. May be exposed to various hazardous conditions such as extreme heat, extreme cold, infectious disease, moving vehicles, electrical current, chemicals, tight spaces, or high places, moving mechanical parts, etc.
Vision: Ability to see in the normal visual range with or without correction.
Hearing: Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
