Assistant Manager - C-Store (Knox Abbot)

The Assistant Store Manager is an entry-level management position responsible for day-to-day supervision of non-management associates, assigning specified work, focusing on store level operation performance, coaching, and developing subordinate Shift Supervisors and other non-management associates. This role involves performing various responsibilities as directed by their manager. It provides an opportunity for entry-level managers to learn important management skills and practice judgment and discretion. This is a non-exempt position and typically reports to the General Store Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises the day-to-day activities of multiple non-exempt operations associates.
  • Assigns work tasks and activities.
  • Prepares daily orders, ensures units are stocked with appropriate levels of product while maintaining inventory controls, utilizing policies & procedures set forth by the Asset Protection Team.
  • Conducts and coordinates on-the-job training for associates, ensuring all associates receive basic skills training to perform their jobs.
  • Maintains awareness of all applicable brand standards.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local sanitary, safety, and health standards, along with all procedures and protocols.
  • Uses judgment and discretion to resolve routine questions and problems, referring more complex issues to higher levels.
  • Provides support, coaching, and encouragement to direct and indirect reports to achieve business goals.
  • Utilizes associates’ strengths and provides ongoing feedback aligned with individual development and business objectives.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires up to 1 year of job-related experience in low-volume Food and Beverage or Merchandise operations or related supervisory, lead, or entry-level management experience.
  • Demonstrates team management, delegation, issue resolution skills, and the ability to multi-task.
  • Knowledge of Applegreen’s policies, products, services, quality, equipment, and operations standards.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, and Teams.
  • Ability to speak, read, and comprehend instructions, policies, and communicate effectively with individuals.
