White Rhino Coffee Shops is seeking an Assistant Manager to support store operations, lead shifts, train staff, and uphold company standards. As MOD, you'll provide leadership and help the Shop Manager achieve goals.

Responsibilities include coaching, scheduling, inventory, food safety, guest service, and marketing support. This role requires flexibility, weekend availability, and a strong customer-service mindset.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Food Manager Certification within 30 days if not certified.
• 2+ years in restaurant, coffee shop, retail or hospitality preferred.
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience with training, inventory, cash handling, scheduling, or shop operations preferred.

ASSISTANT MANAGER

Department: White Rhino Coffee Shops

Reports to: Shop Manager

Location: White Rhino Coffee Shops

FLSA Status: Non-exempt, Hourly

Job Summary

The Assistant Manager supports successful shop operations by leading shifts, developing employees, maintaining company standards, and delivering exceptional guest experiences. As a Manager on Duty (MOD), the Assistant Manager provides trusted leadership and supports the Shop Manager in achieving operational and business goals.

Daily Responsibilities and Tasks

• Serve as Manager on Duty and lead daily shop operations during assigned shifts.
• Coach, train, and support Shift Leads and team members.
• Maintain a culture of hospitality, teamwork, accountability, and excellence.
• Support staffing, scheduling, labor management, and shift coverage.
• Assist with onboarding training and employee development.
• Support sales, labor, food cost, and other shop performance goals.
• Assist with inventory, ordering, receiving, and waste management.
• Ensure food safety, sanitation, security, and operational standards are maintained.
• Resolve guest and employee concerns professionally, escalating when appropriate.
• Complete opening, closing, cash handling, and administrative responsibilities.
• Support company marketing and local store marketing initiatives.
• Maintain shop operations in the Shop Manager's absence and, when assigned, provide additional day-to-day leadership.

Job Qualifications

• Minimum 17 years of age.
• Outstanding customer service and communication skills.

• Excellent conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to make sound decisions and exercise good judgment during busy operations.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to work a minimum of three shifts per week, including weekends and holidays as needed.

Required Education, Certification, or Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Food Manager Certification within 30 days if not already certified.
• Two or more years of restaurant, coffee shop, retail, or hospitality experience preferred.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience with training, inventory, cash handling, scheduling, or other shop operations preferred.

Physical Requirements and Schedule

• Ability to stand and walk continuously for up to 8 hours.
• Frequently bend, reach, kneel, twist, and lift.
• Frequently lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to safely operate espresso machines, grinders, ovens, POS systems, and other cafe equipment.
• Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures, including hot equipment and refrigerated storage.
• Ability to understand, follow, and communicate verbal and written instructions in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as business needs require. Must be able to work a minimum of three shifts per week.
• Regular, reliable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the position.

Compensation and Benefits

• $16.25-$19.75 per hour + average hourly tips of $4-$6, based on home shop volume and experience
