Job Title: Assistant Maintenance Supervisor

Department: Maint/Engineering

Location: Carol Stream, IL

Type: Full Time

This position supports the maintenance supervisor at our facilities in Carol Stream and Hanover Park, Illinois. The successful candidate will lead the maintenance team and report to the maintenance supervisor, providing:

• A safe, positive, and engaging work environment
• 10%-20% of time on off shifts
• Coordination with the Engineering team and external contractors

There is potential for growth into a supervisor role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Environmental Health & Safety (EHS): Foster a culture of continuous improvement towards zero incidents, lead safety training, and address safety issues.
• Quality: Ensure safe, quality food production, comply with regulations (FDA, Organic, Kosher, Halal, BRC), and support audits.
• Productivity: Oversee maintenance of equipment, utilities, and facilities; utilize preventive maintenance programs and CMMS.
• Leadership: Manage and motivate the maintenance team, assist in performance reviews, and promote a positive work environment.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: Minimum 5 years in relevant roles with increasing responsibilities, technical knowledge in industrial systems (electrical, controls, boilers, HVAC, plumbing, welding).

Skills and Abilities: Strong communication, math, organizational, attention to detail, and computer skills (CMMS, Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Ability to make informed decisions, prioritize tasks, and work in a physically demanding environment.

Work Conditions & Physical Requirements

• Lift up to 55 lbs.
• Stand for extended periods
• Wear PPE as required
• Work around powders, smells, and in various physical positions

Compensation & Benefits

Pay: $33.00/hr - $39.00/hr (based on experience, education, location, shift)
