Job summary

Transdev North America is seeking an A-level mechanic with supervisory responsibilities to lead maintenance teams and oversee PMs and DOT inspections for LNG and diesel fleets. You will schedule repairs, manage budgets, and coordinate outside contractors while maintaining safety standards.

The role requires 7+ years in heavy-duty repair, 3+ years of supervision, and CDL Class B preferred, with strong MS Office skills and excellent communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties of an A-level mechanic including PMs and DOT prep.
• Supervises mechanics and maintenance staff; participates in hiring panels.
• Schedules repairs and maintenance for LNG and diesel equipment.
• Manages daily contractual maintenance obligations and budgets at sectional level.
• Coordinates outside contract labor for special projects and monitors performance.
• Creates and reviews work orders; assigns tasks based on qualifications.
• Ensures safe work environment and communicates with Operations on issues.

Performs the duties of an A-level mechanic, including PMs and preparing buses for DOT inspections. Directly supervises the mechanics, service employees and other maintenance personnel, monitors outside contract laborers; schedules the repairs and maintenance of a wide variety of LNG and diesel-powered equipment; ensures an environment that meets safety and regulatory requirements and monitors all daily contractual maintenance obligations.

Key Responsibilities

• Performs the duties of an A-level mechanic, including PMs and preparing buses for DOT inspections.
• Supervises mechanics, investigates, provides information, and makes and administers decisions concerning employee discipline.
• Evaluates the performance of both new and current employees.
• Facilitates and schedules training of both new and current employees.
• Works with Human Resources by participating in interview panels for maintenance positions.
• Monitors the budget at a sectional level.
• Assisting with scheduling outside contract labor for special projects and monitoring the laborers' performance.
• Conducts daily safety/shift turnover meetings with both mechanics and supervisors on duty.Works with facility maintenance to communicate issues relevant to a safe and pleasant work environment.
• Schedules major and minor repairs.
• Creates work orders for repairs to coaches, reviews past work orders for repairs to coaches, and reviews and closes current work orders.
• Assigns work to mechanics based on the work required and the mechanic's qualifications.
• Makes on-the-spot decisions regarding repairs and, at times, makes on-the-spot repairs when necessary.
• Communicates with mechanics on diagnosis and procedures for repair and assists with technical questions.
• Monitors tracking sheets generated by management to ensure repairs are completed promptly.
• Monitors the work of both internal employees and vendors for quality and quantity.
• Works with Parts personnel to obtain the correct replacement parts.
• Decide which coaches to pull/swap out and relay this information to operations at least 8 hours before.
• Lists and schedules coaches for PMI’s and other work and communicates this information with operations.
• Performs other tasks and projects as assigned
• Proficient with Microsoft Office

• Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.

• Familiarity with laws & regulations associated with the safe operation of maintenance facilities
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.

Physical Requirements

• Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions-100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations.
• Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces
• Push and pull objects up to 75 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level
• Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
