Job summary

Liberty Diversified International is hiring an Assistant Machine Operator I at our Poway, CA facility. You will support machine operators, set up orders, perform quality checks, and assist with finishing tasks as needed to maximize efficiency and ensure safe, high-quality corrugated products.

You will contribute to production metrics, communicate issues promptly, and help maintain a clean, safe work environment while following plant safety procedures. Overtime and weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or 1+ year manufacturing experience.
• Math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Ability to read, follow, and complete detailed work instructions.
• Available to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist with setting up orders according to customer specs and prep tools.
• Support machine operators during quality checks and inspect first articles.
• Monitor production metrics and track downtime and maintenance needs.
• Communicate equipment issues and assist troubleshooting to maximize efficiency.
• Assist with minor repairs alongside the maintenance team.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow post-order cleaning procedures.

As anAssistantMachine Operator IwithLiberty Packaging, you will contribute to the growth of our business by being a key player in safely producing quality corrugated products for our customers. You will work within a small group as an assistant operator; in this role, you will support machine operators to maximize machine efficiency by assisting with setting up orders correctly, performing quality checks, stacking orders, and communicating issues. In some locations, the Assistant Machine Operator I roles are also occasionally asked toassist in operatingfinishing machines / tasks (gluers, stitchers, slitter, and saw machine operation).

This full-time position reports directly to aProduction Supervisorand is locatedatour Poway, CA, manufacturing facility.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Supportmachineoperationbyassisting with the setup ofordersaccordingto customer specifications,followingorder readinessprocessofefficientlypreparingtheright toolsto complete thejob.
• Assistmachineoperators duringquality checksbyinspectinga first article, andarticles throughout the orderto identifyissues,ensuringquality product,along withmonitoringequipment and raw materials.
• Support the operator in monitoringproductionmetricstoaccuratelytrackprogressof production rates, quality, maintenanceneeds,anddowntime.
• Proactively communicateissues with equipment toappropriate leaders,and assist withtroubleshooting,and problem solvingto maximize overall equipment efficiencyand minimize downtime.
• Intermittentlyassist with minor repairs to equipmentin partnership with maintenance team.
• Maintain a clean and organized work areabyfollowingpost ordercleaning process.
• Follow plant safety processes and procedures outlined forthemachine center.
• Other duties, as assigned.

Required Education, Experience And Skills

• High School diploma orGEDequivalentfrom an accredited institutionor 1+ years manufacturingor comparableexperience inplaceof education.
• Previous experienceapplyingmathskillssuch asaddition, subtraction,multiplication,and division.
• Previous experience reading,following,and/orcompleting detailed work instructions.
• Must be available to work overtime, weekends, and holidaysas required.

Preferred Education, Experience And Skills

• Experience reading a tape measureto within 1/16" measurement.
• Experience withcomputerskills such as typing, printing, and data entry.
• Experience within the corrugated industry.
• Experience withoperational excellence orcontinuous improvement programs - Lean 6 Sigma, Kaizen Events.

Compensation & Benefits

The starting pay rate for this position is $18.00 per hour. The compensation posted is the anticipated pay for the position at the time of the posting. We may pay above or below posted amount based on several factors, including, but not limited to education and/or certifications, skills, experience, or work location. Some positions may qualify for additional compensation in the form of bonuses.
