Job summary

Liberty Diversified International (LDI) is hiring an Assistant Machine Operator/Utility Operator at our Brooklyn Park, MN facility. You will support machine operators, set up orders, perform quality checks, and help maximize production efficiency in a safe environment.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED (or 1+ year manufacturing experience), basic math, and ability to read work instructions. Overtime, weekends, and holidays may be required.

Responsibilities

• Support machine operation by assisting with setup of orders according to customer specifications.
• Assist machine operators during quality checks by inspecting first article and throughout the order.
• Monitor production metrics to track progress, quality, maintenance needs, and downtime.
• Proactively communicate equipment issues and assist with troubleshooting to maximize efficiency.
• Intermittently assist with minor repairs in partnership with maintenance.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area following post-order cleaning processes.
• Follow plant safety processes and procedures for the machine center.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

As an Assistant Machine Operator/UtilityOperator withLiberty Packaging, you will contribute to the growth of our business by being a key player in safely producing quality corrugated products for our customers. You will work within a small group as an assistant operator; in this role, you will support machine operators to maximize machine efficiency by assisting with setting up orders correctly, performing quality checks, stacking orders, and communicating issues. In some locations, Assistant Machine Operator/UtilityOperator roles are also occasionally asked toassist in operatingfinishing machines / tasks (gluers, stitchers, slitter, and saw machine operation).

This full-time position reports directly to a Production Supervisorand is locatedatourBrooklyn Park, MN manufacturing facility.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Supportmachineoperationbyassisting with the setup ofordersaccordingto customer specifications,followingorder readinessprocessofefficientlypreparingtheright toolsto complete thejob.
• Assistmachineoperators duringquality checksbyinspectinga first article, andarticles throughout the orderto identifyissues,ensuringquality product,along withmonitoringequipment and raw materials.
• Support the operator in monitoringproductionmetricstoaccuratelytrackprogressof production rates, quality, maintenanceneeds,anddowntime.

Required Education, Experience And Skills

• High School diploma orGEDequivalentfrom an accredited institutionor 1+ years manufacturingor comparableexperience inplaceof education.
• Previous experienceapplyingmathskillssuch asaddition, subtraction,multiplication,and division.
• Previous experience reading,following,and/orcompleting detailed work instructions.
• Must be available to work overtime, weekends, and holidaysas required.

Preferred Education, Experience And Skills

• Experience reading a tape measureto within 1/16” measurement.
• Experience withcomputerskills such as typing, printing, and data entry.
• Experience within the corrugated industry.
• Experience withoperational excellence orcontinuous improvement programs – Lean 6 Sigma, Kaizen Events.

Compensation & Benefits

The starting pay rate for this position is $22.77 per hour, plus hourly shift differential pay (if applicable). The compensation posted is the anticipated pay for the position at the time of the posting. We may pay above or below posted amount based on several factors, including, but not limited to education and/or certifications, skills, experience, or work location. Some positions may qualify for additional compensation in the form of bonuses.
