Job summary

Liberty Packaging - Twin Cities in Brooklyn Park, MN is seeking an Assistant Machine Operator/Utility Operator to support machine operators, set up orders, and perform quality checks. You will work in a small team to maximize efficiency and may assist in operating finishing equipment as needed.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED and 1+ year manufacturing experience, plus basic math and the ability to follow detailed instructions. Overtime, weekends, and holidays may be required.

  • 1+ years manufacturing or comparable experience.
  • Math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to read, follow, and complete detailed work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with setting up orders according to customer specifications and readiness processes.
  • Support machine operators during quality checks and inspect first articles for quality.
  • Monitor production metrics and communicate issues to leadership.
  • Troubleshoot and assist with equipment issues to maximize efficiency.
  • Assist with minor repairs to equipment in collaboration with maintenance.
  • Maintain clean and organized work area following post order cleaning.

Description

As an Assistant Machine Operator/UtilityOperator withLiberty Packaging, you will contribute to the growth of our business by being a key player in safely producing quality corrugated products for our customers. You will work within a small group as an assistant operator; in this role, you will support machine operators to maximize machine efficiency by assisting with setting up orders correctly, performing quality checks, stacking orders, and communicating issues. In some locations, Assistant Machine Operator/UtilityOperator roles are also occasionally asked toassist in operatingfinishing machines / tasks (gluers, stitchers, slitter, and saw machine operation).

This full-time position reports directly to aProduction Supervisorand is locatedatourBrooklyn Park, MN manufacturing facility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supportmachineoperationbyassisting with the setup ofordersaccordingto customer specifications,followingorder readinessprocessofefficientlypreparingtheright toolsto complete thejob.
  • Assistmachineoperators duringquality checksbyinspectinga first article, andarticles throughout the orderto identifyissues,ensuringquality product,along withmonitoringequipment and raw materials.
  • Support the operator in monitoringproductionmetricstoaccuratelytrackprogressof production rates, quality, maintenanceneeds,anddowntime.
  • Proactively communicateissues with equipment toappropriate leaders,and assist withtroubleshooting,and problem solvingto maximize overall equipment efficiencyand minimize downtime.
  • Intermittentlyassist with minor repairs to equipmentin partnership with maintenance team.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work areabyfollowingpost ordercleaning process.
  • Follow plant safety processes and procedures outlined forthemachine center.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
  • High School diploma orGEDequivalentfrom an accredited institutionor 1+ years manufacturingor comparableexperience inplaceof education.
  • Previous experienceapplyingmathskillssuch asaddition, subtraction,multiplication,and division.
  • Previous experience reading,following,and/orcompleting detailed work instructions.
  • Must be available to work overtime, weekends, and holidaysas required.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
  • Experience reading a tape measureto within 1/16\" measurement.
  • Experience withcomputerskills such as typing, printing, and data entry.
  • Experience within the corrugated industry.
  • Experience withoperational excellence orcontinuous improvement programs - Lean 6 Sigma, Kaizen Events.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The starting pay rate for this position is $22.77 per hour, plus hourly shift differential pay (if applicable). The compensation posted is the anticipated pay for the position at the time of the posting. We may pay above or below posted amount based on several factors, including, but not limited to education and/or certifications, skills, experience, or work location. Some positions may qualify for additional compensation in the form of bonuses.
