Virginia Tech in Blacksburg is offering a full-time internship for an Assistant Learning Specialist. This role provides an opportunity to support student-athletes with education-impacting disabilities and enhance their academic performance. The successful candidate will work closely with the Learning Assistance Program team, requiring solid communication skills and collaborative abilities.
The position includes flexible hours, with a focus on comprehensive student support. A master's degree or progress towards it is essential, alongside proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong interpersonal skills.
This full-time internship experience is designed to provide an individual the opportunity to grow and develop the necessary skills needed to advance their career into the field of student-athlete academic support. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Learning Assistance Program (LAP), the Assistant Learning Specialist will work with the LAP team to provide one-on-one support to student-athletes who have education-impacting disabilities or who are academically at-risk. This position will require the ability to work a flexible schedule, to include nights and weekends.

No more than 40 hours/week and will not work during the following periods: November 23-27, 2026; December 22, 2023-January 1, 2027; March 6-14, 2027.
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
