Job summary

The ValCap Group, LLC is seeking a Maintenance Assistant for an apartment complex in Plano, TX. This full-time, permanent role focuses on keeping units, common areas, and grounds safe, clean, and operational for residents, with duties spanning basic repairs, HVAC checks, and on-call coverage.

Starting pay is $28.00 per hour. Ideally you have 1–3 years of residential apartment maintenance experience and EPA Section 608 or HVAC certification.

Qualifications

• EPA Section 608 or HVAC Certification (Must-have)
• 1 to 3 years of residential apartment maintenance experience preferred
• Proficiency in basic plumbing, electrical, and appliance repair
• Ability to lift up to 50–75 lbs, climb ladders, and spend the day walking or standing
• A valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle are often required for on-site transport

Responsibilities

• HVAC Upkeep: Conduct basic diagnostic checks and troubleshooting on residential heating and cooling units
• Turnover Maintenance: Repair and prepare vacant apartments for new move-ins, including painting, drywall patching, and light carpentry
• Work Orders: Complete daily resident service requests for minor plumbing leaks, clogged drains, and broken fixtures
• Grounds & Amenities: Maintain the pool area, clear walkways, and remove trash from common spaces and leasing offices
• Emergency Response: Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for urgent after-hours maintenance issues
