Job summary

J&J Snack Foods Corp. is seeking a capable team member to assist in the Mixing Department, supporting training and equipment operation to ensure product quality and safety.

The role emphasizes adherence to SOPs, yield improvements, and proactive problem-solving under supervision. The position requires mechanical troubleshooting ability, consistent attendance, and the capacity to lift and work for long periods in a production environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in training, processes, and procedures for all Mixing Department employees.
• Operate mixing machines and set up ingredients per production schedule.
• Maintain yield, efficiency, quality, cleanliness, and safety under Shift Supervisor direction.
• Perform daily paperwork and provide corrective action recommendations.
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe Mixing area; enforce company rules.
• Report broken or unsafe equipment and verify conformance to production specs.
• Start production lines on time and ensure proper PPE and lifting techniques.
• Contribute to inventory control and OSHA-related programs.

Job description

Scope:

• Assists in the training, processes, and procedures for all employees in the Mixing Department. Skilled knowledge of lines in Mixing department to enable proper ingredient set up and mixing of all products. Requires the operation of the mixing machines. Employee is able to perform all tasks with minimal guidance or supervision and will provide training and support to other peers. Key member for inventory.
• Institute the direction and goals of the Shift Supervisor to maintain yield, efficiency, quality, cleanliness, and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

Emphasize policy, procedures, and culture consistent with the Shift Supervisor’s direction that control and improve:

• production yield and efficiency of facility against standard
• leadership
• food safety and quality
• adherence to SOP’s
• employee ownership and understanding of product and process and overall teambuilding
• employee welfare

Continuously take independent action, perform the daily paperwork, and provide corrective action recommendations to the Production Shift Supervisor in the areas of:

• yield & efficiency

Maintain their area in a clean, orderly, and safe manner

Aid Supervisors in enforcing company rules

Report broken, unsafe or inoperable equipment to the Shift Supervisor

Able to mix necessary ingredients, per the production schedule.

Start lines on time, perform any and all necessary procedures to do so.

Working knowledge of all equipment in department

Ability to independently diagnose and solve problems and gage when outside help is needed

Report recommended changes to written production standards/specifications to reflect actual process to the shift supervisor

Adhere to all environmental, health and safety requirements and procedures

Responsible for food safety and quality

Verify throughout the shift:

• Adherence to the written production specifications and formulas
• Aid in training process and procedures of full time and temporary employees
• Verify in process documents are in compliance, are accurate, and in the proper frequency
• Verify product being produced is in conformance to qualitative standards and that the employees address and make corrective action for non‑conforming process controls
• Breaks and lunches are timely and in accordance with the shift
• Cleanliness and organization of the Mixing department
• Employees are wearing proper PPE and maintaining proper techniques for lifting and handling equipment

Performs other tasks as assigned

Maintains training as applicable in the following areas:

Inventory control

OSHA regulated programs

Personal Protective Equipment

Machine Guarding and Electrical Safety
