ECS Group is seeking an Assistant Lab Manager for our Melbourne lab to oversee daily operations, mentor staff, and ensure QA/QC compliance. You will support safety, scheduling, field testing, reporting, and calibration activities while contributing to business development efforts.

The role emphasizes leadership development, certification progression, and collaboration with project managers across client engagements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 3 years of related laboratory experience ideally in CMT.
• Proficiency with Word and Excel; strong data handling.
• Ability to lift 75 pounds; safety minded.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Lab Manager in supervising daily laboratory operations.
• Provides mentorship, training, and guidance to laboratory staff.
• Promotes safety practices and PPE usage.
• Coordinates laboratory schedules and workflow.
• Performs laboratory and field testing as needed.
• Interprets test data and prepares reports.
• Supports calibration, maintenance, and documentation of equipment.
• Assists with recruiting and staffing efforts with leadership.
• Maintains inventory and ensures QA/QC and accreditation.
• Supports QMS compliance and staff certifications.
• Provides support to Project Managers and admin tasks.
• Participates in business development, marketing and client engagement.
