The Assistant Inventory Manager is responsible for leading inventory control operations, including receiving, stockroom, shipping, and inventory analysis functions. This role drives inventory accuracy, material control, process improvement, and operational performance while supporting manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have proven experience managing inventory within a manufacturing environment and leading large teams.
Lead daily inventory control operations, including receiving, stockroom, shipping, and inventory analyst functions.
Recruit, train, coach, and develop inventory control team members.
Manage large teams and drive performance through effective leadership, training, and employee development.
Establish and monitor operational metrics to ensure inventory accuracy, productivity, and service levels are achieved.
Develop staffing, succession planning, and training programs for the Inventory Control organization.
Partner with Operations, Materials, and Business Unit teams to support production and customer requirements.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory accuracy, material flow, and operational efficiency.
Lead physical inventory activities, cycle count programs, and inventory reconciliation efforts.
Analyze inventory trends, operational metrics, and process performance to identify improvement opportunities.
Implement strategies to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and eliminate non-value-added activities.
Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, safety requirements, and security procedures.
Collaborate with other sites and functional teams to share best practices and drive operational excellence.
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
5+ years of experience managing inventory control, materials management, warehouse operations, or supply chain functions within a manufacturing environment.
3+ years of leadership experience managing large teams in a manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution environment.
Proven experience leading inventory accuracy, cycle counting, physical inventory, receiving, shipping, and material control processes.
Experience driving continuous improvement, cost reduction, and operational excellence initiatives.
Experience working with ERP systems and inventory management tools, preferably SAP.
Strong knowledge of inventory control, warehouse operations, material management, and manufacturing processes.
Strong leadership, team development, and performance management skills.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to analyze operational data and drive process improvements.
Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
SAP experience.
Lean Six Sigma certification or continuous improvement experience.
APICS/ASCM certifications such as CPIM or CSCP.
