Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Assistant Instrumentation & Controls Engineer in Atlanta, GA. You will assist design teams across EPC processes, from front end planning to detailed design, supporting I&C deliverables, controls data sheets, and vendor coordination.

The role emphasizes collaboration with Process Engineering, sizing calculations, and FAT participation. A bachelor degree in engineering and EIT/ABET exposure are preferred; TWIC eligibility is required where applicable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical or related field.
• ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
• Internship or related experience preferred.
• Basic engineering techniques and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work methodically and analytically; critical thinking.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
• AutoCAD, MicroStation, 2D/3D rendering tools knowledge.
• Strong attention to detail and teamwork.
• TWIC card or ability to obtain one.
• EIT certification required.
• GPA 3.0+ preferred.
• Campus/community involvement encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing instrumentation engineering deliverables (I/S sheets, installation details, location plans).
• Assist with control systems data sheets and related I&C documentation.
• Support I&C purchase specs, bid reviews, and vendor documentation.
• Collaborate with Process Engineering on P&ID development; support FAT.
• Assist measurements of process variables and I&C sizing calculations.
