Job summary

YWCA Central MA is seeking an Assistant Infant Teacher to support classroom programming with a developmentally appropriate, culturally sensitive approach. You will help implement activities, supervise children, and communicate with families to promote growth and well-being.

The role requires dedication to safety, inclusivity, and ongoing professional development, including DEEC/QRIS standards. Regular hours, on-site in Worcester, MA, with benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Willingness to enroll in an Associate ECE degree.
  • DEEC qualified preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Health and Safety regulations.Supervisory Responsibilities:NoneDuties/Responsibilities:Assist in planning, implementing and maintaining Teaching Strategies Gold and creating an environment where children can learn and grow at their own pace, interact comfortably with adults, and have the opportunity to participate in individual and group (small and large) activities that recognize and values diversity of all children and ensure all learners have equal access to learning opportunities.Supervise children in play and structured activities.Maintain a safe and clean environment for children; perform light housekeeping duties as needed.Communicate with parents daily regarding progress of their child, participate in parent activities as appropriate, and work with lead teacher in working with families in need of intervention.Assist in preparing and maintaining classroom records as requested.Attend scheduled staff meetings; maintain Health and Safety, CPR and First Aid certification; complete all required training each year as required by DEEC and QRIS.Develop and follow the Annual Individual Professional Development Plan (IPDP).Maintain EEC Professional Qualifications (PQ) Registry.Cover planning and lunch breaks for staff.Maintain student/teacher ratios at all times.Perform other duties as requested.Required Skills/Abilities:Minimum of 18 years of ageAbility to work with families and children of diverse cultural backgroundsAbility to relate with co-workers/parents in a cooperative and positive mannerSolid computer skillsEducation and Experience:Willingness to enroll in an Associate Early Childhood Education (ECE) degree programDEEC qualified preferredPhysical Requirements:Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking throughout the classroom.Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.Must be able to bend, kneel, or squat to be at eye level with children.Run or move quickly to respond to emergency situationsRequires good physical stamina and agility
