YWCA Central Massachusetts in Worcester, MA is seeking an Assistant Infant Teacher to support ongoing programming in assigned classrooms with a professional and confidential approach.

The role emphasizes developmentally appropriate practice, inclusivity, and compliance with NAEYC standards, DEEC/QRIS requirements, and Mass. Health & Safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.

• Solid computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, implementing and maintaining Teaching Strategies Gold and creating an inclusive learning environment.
• Supervise children in play and structured activities.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment; perform light housekeeping as needed.
• Communicate with parents daily regarding progress and participate in parent activities.
• Prepare and maintain classroom records as requested.
• Attend staff meetings and maintain DEEC/QRIS certifications; complete required training yearly.
• Develop and follow the IPDP; maintain PQ Registry.
• Cover planning and lunch breaks; maintain student/teacher ratios.

Job Summary

Manage ongoing programming in assigned classroom(s) in a professional and confidential manner and in a way which incorporates the developmental/culturally sensitive philosophy of the Center and creates an inclusive learning environment to ensure the highest quality of care, as well as compliance with National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) standards, Department of Early Education and Care requirements, and Mass. Health and Safety regulations.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, implementing and maintaining Teaching Strategies Gold and creating an environment where children can learn and grow at their own pace, interact comfortably with adults, and have the opportunity to participate in individual and group (small and large) activities that recognize and values diversity of all children and ensure all learners have equal access to learning opportunities.
• Supervise children in play and structured activities.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment for children; perform light housekeeping duties as needed.
• Communicate with parents daily regarding progress of their child, participate in parent activities as appropriate, and work with lead teacher in working with families in need of intervention.
• Assist in preparing and maintaining classroom records as requested.
• Attend scheduled staff meetings; maintain Health and Safety, CPR and First Aid certification; complete all required training each year as required by DEEC and QRIS.
• Develop and follow the Annual Individual Professional Development Plan (IPDP).
• Maintain EEC Professional Qualifications (PQ) Registry.
• Cover planning and lunch breaks for staff.
• Maintain student/teacher ratios at all times.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Education and Experience

• Willingness to enroll in an Associate Early Childhood Education (ECE) degree program
• DEEC qualified preferred

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking throughout the classroom.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
• Must be able to bend, kneel, or squat to be at eye level with children.
• Run or move quickly to respond to emergency situations
• Requires good physical stamina and agility
