Job summary

YWCA Central MA is hiring an Infant Teacher to manage a classroom in a respectful, inclusive way and ensure high standards of care. You’ll implement developmentally appropriate activities, monitor safety, and support families in partnership with the Lead Teacher.

Requires DEEC qualification and a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education or enrollment in an ECE degree program. This full-time role is on-site, with opportunities for professional growth and ongoing training.

Qualifications

  • DEEC qualified.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education required, or must be enrolled in an Early Childhood Education degree program.
  • Proven ability to work with diverse families and children.

You can add your household for a small monthly fee!Up to 50% Childcare discount to direct childcare workersHealth insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance and long-term disability coverage.Job Title: Infant Teacher Reports to: Lead TeacherSchedule: Full time, Monday through Friday Hours:745-445 Remote Position: NoJob Summary:Manage ongoing programming in assigned classroom in a professional and confidential manner and in a way which incorporates the developmental and culturally sensitive philosophy of the Center and creates an inclusive learning environment to ensure the highest quality of care for children, as well as compliance with NAEYC standards, Department of Early Education and Care, and health and safety regulations.Supervisory Responsibilities:NoneDuties/Responsibilities:Develop, implement and maintain a safe environment and curriculum using Teaching Strategies Gold where children can learn and grow at their own pace, interact comfortably with adults, and have the opportunity to participate in individual and group [small and large] activities that recognize and values diversity of all children and ensure all learners have equal access to learning opportunities.Supervise children in play and structured activities.Maintain a safe and clean environment for children; perform light housekeeping duties as needed.Assist Lead Teacher in conducting Ages in Stages quarterly assessments using Teaching Strategies Gold tool for children in classroom.Assist Lead Teacher in maintaining classroom records as per licensing.Attend scheduled staff meetings; maintain Health and Safety, First Aid and CPR certification; complete all required hours of training each year as per DEEC and QRIS guidelines.Develop and follow annual Individual Professional Development Plan (IPDP).Complete Environmental Rating Scales yearly with a classroom action plan.Maintain and update NAEYC classroom portfolios.Maintain EEC Professional Qualifications (PQ) Registry.Maintain student/teacher ratios at all times.Foster a positive, inclusive culture that celebrates diversity and encourages collaboration among staff, children and families.Perform other duties as requested.Required Skills/Abilities:Ability to relate with co-workers and parents in a cooperative/positive manner to work together towards a common goal, where educators and parents can contribute and feel comfortableAbility to work with families and children of diverse cultural backgroundsSolid computer skillsEducation and Experience:DEEC qualifiedBachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education required, or must be enrolled in an Early Childhood Education degree programPhysical Requirements:Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking throughout the classroom.Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.Must be able to bend, kneel, or squat to be at eye level with children.Run or move quickly to respond to emergency situationsRequires good physical stamina and agility
