What You Will Have An Opportunity To Do

The Assistant in Training - Golf Maintenance (AIT) is a developing turfgrass professional who gains hands‑on experience in all aspects of golf course maintenance while preparing for future leadership roles. Working closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent, the AIT assists with staff supervision, maintenance operations, pesticide applications, irrigation and water management, and special projects. The role also involves collecting and analyzing agronomic data, supporting moisture management decisions, and helping maintain high‑quality playing conditions through effective communication, leadership, and operational support. All duties are performed in accordance with department and Sunseeker Resort policies, practices and procedures.

Job Duties
  • Assist with golf course maintenance and daily operations.
  • Support irrigation, water management, and moisture monitoring programs.
  • Perform pesticide applications and maintain accurate application records.
  • Assist with fertilizer and agronomic program implementation.
  • Supervise, train, and lead maintenance staff and small project crews.
  • Operate and maintain mowing, application, and heavy equipment.
  • Monitor course conditions and recommend program adjustments.
  • Ensure safety, environmental compliance, and facility organization.
  • Maintain required pesticide license and continuing education.
  • Support the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents in delivering exceptional playing conditions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the department.
Qualifications

Combination of Education and Experience will be considered. Candidates must be authorized to work in the US as defined by the Immigration Act of 1986. Sunseeker Resort performs criminal background checks on all candidates and uses E‑Verify to confirm the eligibility of newly hired employees.

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in golf maintenance roles.
  • Valid Florida Commercial Applicator License.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Read and follow safety procedures and operating manuals.
  • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Perform basic calculations and calibrate application equipment.
