Job summary

University of Nebraska Medical Center is seeking an Animal Care Technician to perform first-line care and husbandry for all research animals on-site in Omaha. The role requires a high school education or equivalent and a valid driver’s license.

As essential personnel, you may work weekends/holidays and participate in emergency preparedness. Training and regulatory compliance are important parts of daily tasks at UNMC.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

This position performs first line basic care, feeding and husbandry of all species of animals used in research at UNMC (University of Nebraska Medical Center) in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and standards.

Must carry a pager during working hours. (E)
This position is considered essential personnel and will be required to work some weekends, holidays, and overtime if indicated. This position maybe required to take part on the Comparative Medicine emergency team which will be activated during severe weather and/or unusual circumstances where personnel must stay on site for extended periods to ensure the animals at UNMC are cared for. (E)
