Job summary

Red Rabbit is seeking an Assistant Head Chef in Philadelphia, PA. As second in command to the Head Chef, you will lead day-to-day operations in a school kitchen, preparing meals for 300-500 students and ensuring quality, safety, and schedule adherence.

This role offers stable hours, a teacher’s schedule, and weekends/holidays off. You will collaborate with the Head Chef on production, inventory, and training, while interacting with staff and students.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional culinary experience in a fast paced, high volume kitchen.
• Associate degree in culinary arts a plus
• Demonstrated knowledge of proper food safety and sanitation practices
• Food Handlers Required or must be obtained with 90 days of hire (reimbursement available)
• Must have excellent communication skills and be extremely well organized
• Familiarity with NSLP compliance requirements a plus
• Must have food handlers license or certificate
• Must share our passion for improving nutrition and health in schools
• Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus

Responsibilities

• Culinary Execution: Plan and execute the daily preparation of breakfast, lunch, and snack for 300-500 students.
• Maintain a food-safe kitchen at all times, performing quality control on all menu items ensuring recipe consistency and integrity
• Administration: Adhere to production schedules, perform inventory, and track consumption numbers while working with the kitchen team to execute efficiently.
