Job summary

Red Rabbit in Philadelphia, PA is seeking a Head Chef to lead a busy school cafeteria kitchen and shape scratch-made, culturally relevant meals for hundreds of students. You will supervise 3–7 team members, train staff, and coordinate with school leadership while ensuring quality and compliance.

The role emphasizes food justice, communication with parents and teachers, and a focus on nutrition. Typical hours are Monday–Friday, with PTO on major holidays and no weekend work.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of high-volume culinary experience (300+ meals)
• 1+ years supervisory/management experience
• ServeSafe Certificate within 90 days (reimbursement)
• Familiarity with NSLP compliance requirements

Responsibilities

• Direct daily culinary execution and maintain a food-safe kitchen
• Train, coach, and develop kitchen staff
• Adhere to production schedules and track consumption numbers
• Build relationships with school community and educate through nutrition presentations
