Job summary

Glass House Brands Inc. is seeking an Assistant Grower to support the Grower in managing cannabis growing operations at Glass House Farms. This role focuses on proper greenhouse care, cultivation practices, propagation, and pest and disease control under the Head Grower’s guidance.

The position requires adapting to a 40-hour work week, with potential weekend and night shifts. Candidates should have at least 2 years of agriculture experience and strong knowledge of cannabis cultivation.

Brief Description

The Assistant Grower position is responsible for assisting the Grower in the management of cannabis growing operations for Glass House Farms. This person is also responsible for the proper care of the greenhouse including the principles and practices of cannabis cultivation, propagation, or pest and disease control as directed by the Head Grower.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Executes the Grower’s plan according to the company’s production plan. Follows the type and timing of the preparations, crop tending and cleanup.
• Always alert for any potential safety risks or unknown entry.
• Manage the growing environment for optimal plant growth through irrigation, temperature, climate and pest & disease control systems in accordance with grower instructions.
• Execute/implement the Grower’s plan, and organize, direct, control, and/or coordinate activities of workers engaged in propagating, cultivating, and harvesting.
• Train new team members in cultivation techniques, including irrigation, and pest control while communicating needed tasks with the labor crew.
• Ensure all safety policies are followed and enforced and ensure strict crop growing practices are followed and enforced.
• Assist Grower in establishing and maintaining a program to record crop growth data (weekly crop report, climate report, maturation report, production, etc.).
• Maintain strain and phenotype data to assist with cultivation decisions.
• Coordinate planting activities with Operations Department.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Grower.
• Performs Quality Evaluations on Greenhouse work.
• Will need to able to trouble shoot Greenhouse and Irrigation issues.
• For this position you will need to complete modules: Introduction Horticulture, and Water- Introduction and successfully pass within the first 6 months. Then will continue to complete Priva Modules as assigned every 6 months after

Requirements

• Advanced, comprehensive knowledge of cannabis, including genetics and strain types.
• In-depth knowledge of large-scale, commercial cannabis cultivation including crop rotation management, nutrient requirements, grow mediums, light requirements, and environmental control.
• Competency in use of climate computer controls.
• Knowledge of the entire cannabis growth cycle and requirements.
• Must be adept at industry best practices and current on new techniques and insights with respect to individual strains, high yield recipes, controlled stress environments, different lighting systems and set ups.
• Must be able to successfully communicate with both English and Spanish-speaking team members.

Language Skills

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
• Able to read and write

Reasoning Ability

• Must be a self-starter with minimal supervision, able to work independently and in a team environment.
• This position requires a 40-hour minimum work week.
• Willingness to work weekends and nights.

Physical Demands

• Ability to work in conditions typically found in a greenhouse with high humidity and varying temperatures, with a fair amount of moisture present.
• Ability to exert up to 15-50 pounds occasionally in order to lift and move product.
• Ability to balance, reach grasp while climbing on a step stool and/ or ladder.
• Ability to crouch, grasp and lift product above shoulders in order to lift product from the floor properly.
• Ability to be on feet while performing job responsibilities.
• Must be able to wear and N95 mask

Education And/or Experience

• High School Diploma or GED and or basic reading and writing.
• Must have a minimum of 2 years agriculture or equivalent company experience
• Travel may be required per company needs and must provide a clean DMV record
