Responsibilities

• Monitor for plant disease and maintain crop quality standards.
• Oversee planting, pest & disease work, and maintenance affecting production.
• Manage irrigation: calibrate grow scales, drain trays, EC and pH sensors.
• Record plant growth and daily irrigation, EC and pH data.
• Track measurements and weekly operation reports.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.

Job description

Brief Description

• Monitor and report pest pressure in the greenhouses to the grower.
• Monitor for plant disease and maintain crop quality standards.
• Oversee specialty jobs such as planting, pest & disease work, and maintenance that may affect production.
• Manage irrigation: monitor and calibrate grow scales, drain trays, EC and pH sensors.
• Ensure proper settings based on grower discussions.
• Monitor drain, dripper measurements, pathway bottles, back washing of sand filters, cleaning of disc filters, and irrigation system pressure per grower specifications.
• Sample fertilization on a regular basis.
• Track plant growth, CO2 monitoring for correct dosage, daily irrigation, drain, EC and pH data recording.
• Record plant measurements and weekly operation reports.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Complete Introduction Horticulture, Water-Introduction, Irrigation, Fertilization modules within the first 6 months and continue with Priva Modules every 6 months thereafter.
• Follow up, document progression, and analyze results.
• Pay attention to details under guidance.
• Convert measurement units.
• Basic knowledge of algebra for measurement conversions.
• Basic knowledge of chemistry to differentiate substances used accurately.

Required

• Must be 21+ years of age.
• Bilingual preferred.
• Able to work independently and in a team environment.

• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Must commit to a minimum 40-hour work week.
• Must write and communicate effectively with the entire team.

Physical Demands

• Work in greenhouse conditions with high humidity and varying temperatures.
• Exert up to 15-50 pounds occasionally to lift and move product.
• Balance, reach, and grasp while climbing a step stool or ladder.
• Crouch, grasp, and lift product above shoulders to lift from the floor properly.
• Remain on feet while performing job responsibilities.

Work Environment

• Work most of the time in greenhouses with high temperature and humidity.
• Use chemicals; protective equipment provided.
• Work weekends (Saturday and Sunday) as required by the company.

Travel

May be required to travel between the office and the farm sites on occasion.

Summary

Assist the grower in monitoring crops, irrigation, and climate strategies and help with labor as needed; report all irregularities to the grower.
