Job summary

CMHA-CEI is seeking a Grounds Maintenance worker in Lansing, MI. Under supervision, you will perform daily grounds keeping and maintenance at CMHA-CEI facilities, following directions from the Grounds Crew Leader and Job Coach to support the organization’s mission.

Must have a valid Michigan driver's license, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and be able to work outdoors in varied weather conditions. Position is 40 hours per week, 7am–3:30pm, with wages $18.65–$20.89 per hour.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Property and Facilities Manager, takes day to day direction from the Job Coach/ Grounds Crew Leader while performing grounds keeping and general grounds maintenance at Community Mental Health Authority of Clinton, Eaton and Ingham counties' owned/ contracted facilities. Responsible for carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI's mission, policies and procedures.

Requirements

Prior work experience performing grounds keeping duties is preferred. Must have a valid Michigan driver's license. Must have access to reliable means of transportation for job related use. Must be physically able to perform repetitive lifting up to 50 pounds. Must be physically able to operate heavy machinery, commercial walk behind mowers, snow blowers, etc. The work is typically performed at CMHA-CEI or affiliate facilities, which requires proper safety precautions; work will require physical effort in the handling of materials, boxes, or equipment. A range of noise levels in the workplace. Must be able to work under a variety of weather conditions. Work is completed in outdoor conditions in a variety of extreme weather conditions. Must be physically able to access work assignment. Must be physically able to do a great deal of walking while mowing. Primarily standing, stooping, bending and reaching in performing and completing a multitude of Landscape Maintenance tasks. Extended periods of standing, sitting, walking, and/or driving.

Conditional Employment Requirements

Employment offers for this position will be contingent upon the results of a Michigan State Police clearance check and verification of an acceptable Michigan driving record. Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen. Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical.

Salary/Hours

$18.65 - $20.89 per hour. 7am-3:30pm; 40 hours per week.
