Job summary

CMHA-CEI in Lansing, Michigan is seeking a Grounds Keeper to perform daily grounds maintenance under supervision. You will operate lawn equipment and heavy machinery, ensuring safe, clean outdoor spaces for CMHA-CEI facilities.

The role demands physical fitness, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work outdoors in variable weather, with a standard 7am–3:30pm shift and 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Prior grounds keeping experience preferred.

Job description

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Property and Facilities Manager, takes day to day direction from the Job Coach/ Grounds Crew Leader while performing grounds keeping and general grounds maintenance at Community Mental Health Authority of Clinton, Eaton and Ingham counties’ owned/ contracted facilities. Responsible for carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Prior work experience performing grounds keeping duties is preferred.
• Must have a valid Michigan driver’s license.
• Must have access to reliable means of transportation for job related use.
• Must be physically able to perform repetitive lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Must be physically able to operate heavy machinery, commercial walk behind mowers, snow blowers, etc.
• The work is typically performed at CMHA-CEI or affiliate facilities, which requires proper safety precautions; work will require physical effort in the handling of materials, boxes, or equipment.
• A range of noise levels in the workplace.
• Must be able to work under a variety of weather conditions.
• Work is completed in outdoor conditions in a variety of extreme weather conditions.
• Must be physically able to access work assignment.
• Must be physically able to do a great deal of walking while mowing.
• Primarily standing, stooping, bending and reaching in performing and completing a multitude of Landscape Maintenance tasks.
• Extended periods of standing, sitting, walking, and/or driving.

Conditional Employment Requirements

• Employment offers for this position will be contingent upon the results of a Michigan State Police clearance check and verification of an acceptable Michigan driving record.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical.

Salary/Hours

$18.65 - $20.89 per hour. 7am-3:30pm; 40 hours per week.
