Job SummaryThe position of Assistant Golf Professional is responsible to help oversee the daily operations of the golf course and provide customer service to members and their guests. As an assistant golf professional, your job duties include doing club fittings and repairs, serving as course attendant, and checking golfers in and out according to their tee times.Primary Responsibilities & Essential FunctionsAssists the Head Golf Professional with planning, promoting, and directing all golf activities professionally and enthusiasticallyResponsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of golf operations; manage the day-to-day personnel function; carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Club’s polices and applicable lawsAdministers and enforces all rules and regulations, policies and procedures as required by the company related to applicable staff positionsIncorporate safe work practices and trains staff in the proper and safe use of equipmentReport unsafe conditions to managementMakes recommendations for the hiring and manages the training/supervision of all outside golf operations personnelDirectly responsible for recommending the hiring, training, guiding, and enhancing of the: Assistant Golf Professionals Outside Golf Operations StaffManage, train and motivate staff to provide consistently outstanding membership service levelsPerform evaluations yearly for all staff that he/she managesAdminister, interpret, and enforce all club rules and policies that govern the use of the course, golf cars, and other golf-related facilitiesMakes schedules for Golf Shop and Outside Operations staff to assure that members and guests are fully serviced and that labor costs are maintainedOrders supplies associated with golf operations within budgetAssist Director of Golf with tracking of expenses and revenuesEnsures that the golf car fleet is maintained according to standards and properly operated by staffPlays golf with members of all skill-levelsBe open and interested in members’ suggestions, resolving issues as they arise, including presentation of more difficult issues and possible solutions to the General ManagerMember communication regarding all upcoming golf events, course closures and any other important informationEnsure that the practice facilities and their surrounding are always up to standards and ready for member/guest usage as neededCoordinates/develops teaching programs for students of all skill levelsAssists with organizing and conducting club tournaments, outside outings and related eventsWork closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to communicate tournaments and events, course conditions and maintenance schedulingGolf Reception desk coverage including Point of Sale duties as neededAssist with month end inventory as neededOperate and maintain a reputable golf shop and practice facility that features a range of quality merchandise and services reflective of members’ needs; oversee the ordering of and/or may order merchandise for golf shop and provides the best selection possible within the constraints of inventory and quality limits in adherence with Club standardsAll other duties as assignedEducation and ExperienceBachelor’s Degree or higher in Professional Golf Management is heavily preferredAbility to read, write, speak, and communicate in basic English required to communicate with guests and members.Must have proven abilities & knowledge of golf operationsPrevious customer experience preferredMinimum of 2 years golf operations experience, preferably at a private clubKnowledge, Skills, AbilitiesDetail oriented and thoroughAbility to perform consistent work to the highest of standardsAbility to interact with guests in a pleasant friendly wayAbility to remain discreet and respect the privacy of guestsAbility to lead a team effectively and efficientlyClear understanding of golf, private club and/or hospitality operationsThrive in a team environment focused on excellenceAbility to maintain a well-organized operationAbility to work under pressure and meet deadline requirementsExcellent communication (written and oral) and people skills are a mustFinancial aptitude and experience to assist and understand the operating budgetAbility to train, motivate and superviseExtensive knowledge and clear understanding of golf, private club and/or hospitality operationsAbility to deliver a high-quality standard of service, consistently with emphasis on continued improvementPhysical DemandsAbility to spend entire shift on feet and walking (sometimes running)Ability to lift 50 lbsAbility to bend, stoop, reach, and kneel while handling equipmentAbility to perform repetitive motions such as cleaning or retrieving ballsOccasional keyboardingWorking ConditionsFast-paced, outdoor work environment, may include indoor as neededExposure to the elements to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, and sunPotentially noisy environment due to golf carts, equipment, and active driving rangeThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not an exclusive list of all duties and responsibilities.
