Job description

Do you have a passion for coaching and the game of golf? The Country Club of Virginia is searching for a talented Assistant Golf Professional that will help provide instruction and oversight of the day-to-day golf operations. This position calls for a highly motivated professional who values strong team dynamics in achieving golf operations goals. The professional will be highly visible with members and staff on a daily basis to ensure the highest operating standards are maintained in all aspects of the golf operation. Of utmost importance is the desire to provide an exceptional service experience for the membership. The professional is expected to be an innovative contributor to a well-established and highly successful golf operation.

The Assistant Golf Professional reports to the Head Golf Professional and works closely with the County Club of Virginia Professional Staff to support daily golf operations and deliver exceptional member experiences. We seek a passionate, early-career professional who is eager to learn, build a strong foundation for a successful career in the golf industry, and contribute to our well-established and thriving golf operation. This role offers an opportunity to develop skills under experienced leadership, with a path for promotion within the club or the broader golf industry for those who demonstrate dedication, enthusiasm, and a commitment to career advancement.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver excellent service while maintaining a clean and safe environment for members, guests, and staff
  • Embrace and promote the Club’s mission and vision, reflecting its values in all interactions
  • Collaborate as a team member, supporting colleagues and contributing to operational success
  • Uphold standards of excellence to ensure consistent member satisfaction
  • Support the Head Professional and Senior Assistant in managing golf operations, actively learning best practices
  • Assist in monitoring play and enforcing Club policies, rules, and course etiquette
  • Provide golf lessons and support club fittings, helping members improve their game while developing instructional skills
  • Participate in golf activities with members and represent the Club in select tournaments to build industry experience
  • Support daily operations, including inside/outside attendants, cart/range operations, and daily play
  • Assist in coordinating golf events, including men’s, women’s, couples’, and junior tournaments, to gain event management experience
  • Support retail operations, including sales, merchandising, promotions, and inventory tasks, learning key aspects of pro shop management
  • Assist with staff training and daily task assignments under the guidance of senior staff, building leadership skills

Club Profile

The Country Club of Virginia, established in 1908 in Richmond, VA, is one of America's oldest, finest, and largest private, member-owned clubs, currently ranked 7th among America’s platinum clubs. Situated on 1,000+ acres featuring two campuses seven miles apart, offering diverse dining, 54 holes of golf, 24 tennis courts, 30,000 sq. ft of fitness facilities, an expansive aquatics complex, and three golf courses, including designs by William Flynn and Donald Ross.

CCV operates two campuses. The Westhampton Campus provides comprehensive club facilities including golf, racquet sports, fitness, youth, aquatics, and dining. The James River Campus is central to golf at the club, featuring the James River and Tuckahoe Creek courses, two practice facilities, and an indoor golf performance center. The Tuckahoe Creek Course will undergo a complete renovation starting Fall 2025.

The Club has a rich history of hosting championship golf, including the 1955 and 1975 US Amateur Championships. CCV is also the host site for the 2016-2025 PGA TOUR Champions Dominion Energy Charity Classic.
