Job summary

Waialae Country Club, a private club in East Honolulu, seeks an Assistant Golf Professional to join the Golf Pro Shop team. This full-time role supports member services, tee time bookings, and tournaments, with flexible evenings and weekend availability.

Responsibilities include guest service, POS operations, attire guidance, and assisting in club tournaments; PGA/LPGA membership or pursuit is preferred. Benefits include health, retirement, and golf privileges.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provides excellent service by engaging with members/guests and meeting their needs.
• Assists members at the counter and over the phone with inquiries and tee time bookings.
• Operates the POS system and handles payments.
• Advises members about attire and playing privileges of membership classifications.
• Assists in running club tournaments and recruiting participants.
• Maintains records for lost/found clubs.
• Maintains water/coffee area and raises flags each morning.
• Backs up First Assistant Professional and assists retail when needed.

Job description

Waialae Country Club is a private membership club, which provides its members with a championship golf course, dining services, health/recreational facilities, and host of the Sony Championship Hawaii in 2027. Waialae Country Club is recognized as a Platinum Club of America, Honorable Mention Platinum Club of the World, and is designated as a Distinguished Club with ELITE status by BoardRoom Magazine.

Position: Assistant Golf Professional.
Status: Full-Time (30+ hours per week).
Department: Golf Pro Shop.
Reports to: First Assistant Golf Professional.

Key Responsibilities

• Provides excellent service by engaging with members/guests and ensuring their needs are met.
• Assists members at the counter and over the phone with inquiries and booking tee times.
• Operates point of sale system and receives and processes payments.
• Advises members/guests about attire and playing privileges of the various membership classifications.
• Assists Head Golf Professional and First Assistant Professional with successfully running Club tournaments; and recruiting tournament participants.
• Maintains records for lost/found clubs.
• Maintains the water and coffee service area; and assists with raising flags each morning.
• Serves as backup to First Assistant Professional and assists the retail department when needed.

Requirements

• 6 months - 1 year related experience. Previous experience at a private membership club preferred.
• Ability to perform general administrative duties including filing, taking messages, and data entry.
• Ability to use Word, Excel, email, USGA GHIN software, and tee sheet/GPS software.
• Must have an unexpired Driver's License.
• Registered member of PGA/LPGA (or actively working towards membership).
• Must be able to drive a golf cart and lift up to 40 pounds.
• Must be a team player with a positive attitude.
• Must be available to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Pay Range

$23.00-$27.00/hour depending on experience and PGA certification level plus lesson income.
