Harvey Penick Golf Campus (HPGC) is a unique golf facility and the home ofFirst Tee – Greater Austin (FTGA). The campus includes a 9-hole golf course, 3-hole short course, driving range, practice putting and chipping greens, and facilities dedicated to helping golfers of all ages and abilities learn, play and enjoy the game.

Position Summary
First Tee – Greater Austin is seeking an enthusiastic, personable and service-orientedAssistant Golf Professionalto join our team.
The ideal candidate is a passionate golfer who enjoys working with people, providing an exceptional golf experience, teaching the game and supporting junior golfers. This position will have responsibilities across golf operations, customer service, instruction, tournaments and events, and First Tee programming.

Key Responsibilities
Golf Operations
- Assist with the day-to-day operation of Harvey Penick Golf Campus.
- Provide outstanding customer service to members, guests, juniors and the general public.
- Manage tee times, check-in, green fees, range sales and other golf-shop transactions.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures and maintaining an organized, welcoming golf shop.
- Monitor pace of play and assist golfers with course-related questions and needs.
- Help maintain the golf shop, practice facilities and player areas in a clean and professional condition.
- Assist with golf course and facility set-up as needed.
- Help ensure a safe, positive and enjoyable experience for all golfers.
Golf Instruction
- Provide private golf instruction to juniors and adults.
- Develop and maintain a private lesson clientele.
- Retain 100% of revenue from private lessons.
- Assist with group instruction, clinics, camps and other instructional programs.
- Support FTGA's junior golf and player-development initiatives.
- Promote instruction and help grow the golf campus's lesson and programming opportunities.
First Tee – Greater Austin
- Support FTGA programs and events as needed.
- Assist with First Tee programming and activities for youth ages 5–17.
- Incorporate First Tee's Life Skills and golf programming philosophy into interactions with young people.
- Serve as a positive role model and ambassador for First Tee – Greater Austin.
- Participate in required First Tee training and professional development.
Tournaments & Events
- Assist with the planning, preparation and execution of tournaments, outings and special events.
- Assist with tournament registration, scoring, starting, rules and on-course operations.
- Help create an exceptional experience for tournament participants, sponsors and guests.
Professional Development
- Maintain a strong knowledge of golf rules, etiquette, instruction and industry best practices.
- Participate in FTGA staff meetings, trainings and professional development opportunities.
- Pursue continued growth toward PGA or LPGA membership and/or advancement within the golf profession.
Qualifications
Required
- Passion for golf and a genuine desire to help others enjoy and improve at the game.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer-service skills.
- Ability to work effectively with children, families, adults and golfers of varying skill levels.
- Professional, dependable and positive attitude.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as as part of a team.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays as required by golf operations.
- Ability to stand, walk and work outdoors for extended periods and perform the physical requirements of the position, which includes the ability to lift 35 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. pounds occasionally.
Preferred
- PGA or LPGA membership or active progress toward membership.
- Prior experience in golf operations, instruction, junior golf or tournament management.
- Experience teaching private golf lessons.
- Knowledge of the Rules of Golf.
- Experience working with junior golfers.
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
- Experience with golf-management or tee-sheet software.
