Job summary

City of Arlington is seeking a hospitality/operations specialist to manage day-to-day clubhouse activities for an 18-hole golf course. This role includes cash handling, tee-time coordination, event support, and collaboration with F&B and maintenance teams.

You will assist with golf lessons, tournaments, and special events, ensuring smooth operations and excellent guest service in both indoor and outdoor settings.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Overview

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for assisting in the handling of the day-to-day operations and management of an 18-hole golf course. Additional tasks include the use of computers for performing clerical and routine manual work that are essential for tracking and securing funds for the operation.

Experience Required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Knowledge of principles and practices of clubhouse operations.
• Knowledge of golf instructional programs.
• Knowledge of merchandising operations.
• Knowledge of food and beverage operations to include the sales and service of alcoholic beverages.
• Knowledge of golf tournament operations.
• Knowledge of basic golf cart operations to include routine maintenance and service schedules.
• Knowledge of golf rules, regulations, and golf etiquette.
• Skill in planning, promoting and operating golf tournaments.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective communications with the public, staff, and the maintenance department.
• Ability to perform a variety of physical skills, including but not limited to, seeing, carrying, kneeling, twisting body, standing, vacuum cleaning, sweeping, mopping, window cleaning and dusting.
• Ability to operate a motorized vehicle.
• Ability to operate a variety of equipment including, but not limited to telephone, calculator, and personal computer.
• Ability to lift or exert forces equivalent to lifting up to 45 pounds; and push/pull 25 lbs. for 40 feet.
• Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
• Qualifying Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience in clubhouse operations which includes: Pro shop operations, food and beverage operations, maintaining a fleet of electrical golf carts.
  • Possession of a valid Texas Operator's License, Class C.
  • Ability to obtain Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission Seller/Server certification within three (3) days of hire.
  • Ability to obtain Food Handler's certificate or the ability to obtain within seven (7) days of hire.

Essential Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Sales and cash handling, operating a point-of-sale system to assist customers with duties including but not limited to: Receives and records daily green fees, annual tickets, golf equipment, golf cart rentals, sale of alcoholic beverages, food, and non-alcoholic beverages, daily deposits of monies received, electronic tee sheet function, inventory management and sales, membership management, and various discount programs.
• Receives, modifies tee sheet for tournament bookings, coordinates and records tee time reservations and monitor play on golf course to ensure smooth play and proper pace of play.
• Assist with instructional programs.
• Facilitates tournament operations including but not limited to: Utilization of event software to prepare player lists/hole assignments, cart signs, tournament scorecards and scoreboards, and provide scoring at the conclusion of the event.
• Works with the Food and Beverage department to ensure timely delivery of tournament meals and beverage cart service.
• Answers public relations questions regarding golf, including but not limited to: Course conditions, clubhouse operations, merchandising, and directing staff with tournament and day to day operations.
• Assists with selecting, hiring, training, scheduling and supervising employees' activities involved in the day-to-day clubhouse operations to include: Beverage Cart Attendants, Clubhouse Attendants, and Cart Attendants.
• Oversees and implements the City of Arlington Golf Volunteer program. Maintains timely records.
• Directly supervises the daily golf car fleet including upkeep, maintenance, workflow process and rotation program.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Ensures cars are clean and fit for rent and pace of play is being maintained.
• Assists the Head Golf Professional with golf lessons, tournaments, special events and tournament operations.
• Perform related duties as needed or directed such as opening and closing the clubhouse, inventory management, instructional programs and ensure clubhouse and surrounding area is clean.
• Responds to customers' needs to ensure a pleasant experience and to provide optimal service.

The City's Pension is provided by the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS). You are automatically enrolled in TMRS upon hire. The City does not participate in social security. Your Pension through TMRS replaces your social security benefit. You contribute 7% of your salary towards your pension. The City matches your funds at 2 to 1 upon your retirement. You are vested when you have five (5) years of service. Once vested, you may retire after 20 years of service or at age 60. TMRS invests your funds for you. Your funds and interest are reported on an annual statement each year. The City also provides you with a Supplemental Death Benefit (SDB) under TMRS. While employed, the City covers you at 1 times your annual base salary at no cost to you. Once retired, the City provides a flat $7,500 Death Benefit. Should you work for another TMRS City following retirement from the City of Arlington, the other City will become responsible for your $7,500 Death Benefit.
