Responsibilities

  • Gives lessons and teaches the game of golf.
  • Greet customers, run check-in, collect fees, sell merchandise and assist with clubs.
  • Stock displays and monitor golf merchandise inventory.
  • Assist in setting up carts, tables, and chairs for events.
  • Marshal course and enforce rules and procedures.
  • Perform minor club and cart repairs as needed.
  • Use computer systems for daily sales and tournament data entry.
  • Provide knowledge of golf and course operations to guests.
  • Interacts professionally with public and staff.

Job description

Assists in operating the municipal golf course facility by providing excellent customer service and promoting the golf course usage by golf expertise and golf lessons.

Essential Functions
  • Gives lessons and teaches the game of golf.
  • Greets customers, runs the check-in counter, collects greens fees, sells available merchandise and assists customers with their clubs.
  • Stocks displays and monitors golf merchandise inventory levels.
  • Assists in pulling carts to the staging area for shotgun tournaments and sets up tables and chairs for meetings.
  • Picks the driving range.
  • Marshals the golf course to assure customers adhere to rules and playing procedures.
  • Maintains the clubhouse and grounds by picking up trash, etc.
  • Performs minor club and cart repairs.
  • Maintains knowledge of the game and golf expertise.
  • Uses computer system for data entry on daily sales and tournaments.
  • Monitors driving range and parking lot.
  • Assists Golf Maintenance crews when needed.
  • Any other duties related to the Golf operations and customer service.
  • Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.
  • Regular and timely attendance are required for this position.
  • Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers and others in the course of daily work.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of the game of golf, equipment, rules, etc.
  • Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, GHIN Handicap System, and Golf Genius Tournament System..
  • Requires excellent organizational and communications skills.
  • Must be comfortable working outside comfort zone with a willingness to learn.
  • Must be a team player who is able to work in a fast-paced environment with deadlines.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer services including a desire to help customers regardless of their circumstance.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Must have the ability to learn additional applications as they are applied to working assignments.
  • Ability to maintain cooperative-working relationships with employees and those contacted in the course of work.
Education, Experience And Other Requirements

Knowledge of the game of golf, equipment, rules, etc. and a certain level of golf proficiency and the ability to communicate this expertise.

PGA Membership or enrollment in program preferred, but not required.

Requires customer service orientation and above average reading, writing and math skills.

Position requires applicant to pass a credit check and a Federal/National criminal background check. Must have a valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record as defined by City policy.

Must pass a pre-employment basic physical, drug screen, and functional assessment screening (Level 1).

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. This job requires the ability to work in an office environment where the noise level is usually moderate.

Regular full-time employees are assigned to work at least 40 hours per week, and are eligible for the City's benefit package, subject to the conditions and limitations of each program.
