Job summary

Spangler’s Market in California is seeking a dedicated and experienced full-time Assistant General Manager to assist in all aspects of store operations and promote a positive work culture.

The role reports to Ownership/GM, is exempt under FLSA, and offers a salary range with bonus potential. The candidate will oversee payroll, hiring, inventory, and customer engagement in a busy grocery environment.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years in grocery preferred or other retail.
• At least 2 years of supervisory/management experience.
• Experience buying perishable foods preferred.

Responsibilities

• Drive store revenue and brand awareness with the GM.
• Assist with ordering and vendor management.
• Manage payroll-related data and HR workflows.
• Lead recruitment, interviews and staffing adjustments.
• Troubleshoot store issues and supervise daily operations.
• Open/close the store and manage deposits and reports.
• Coordinate inventory and auto-reordering with buyers.
• Guide team performance and ensure quality standards.
• Engage customers and resolve issues to delight shoppers.
