Role Description The Assistant Girls Volleyball Coach is a contract, on-site role based at Mater Academy Bay in Miami, FL. This role supports the Head Coach in planning and conducting practices, developing training drills, and preparing athletes for games and tournaments. The coach will assist with teaching volleyball fundamentals, position‑specific skills, and game strategies, while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and academic responsibility. Daily tasks include supervising student‑athletes during practices and competitions, helping manage equipment and uniforms, coordinating with school staff on schedules and logistics, and ensuring compliance with school and league guidelines. The Assistant Coach is expected to provide consistent mentorship, maintain a positive and inclusive team culture, and support communication with families and guardians about team activities and expectations.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated volleyball knowledge, including rules, techniques, and game strategy suitable for middle and/or high school athletes.
• Experience working with youth or student‑athletes in a coaching, teaching, or mentoring capacity.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, families, school staff, and other coaches.
• Ability to create an inclusive, encouraging, and safety-conscious environment for diverse student‑athletes.
• Organizational skills to manage practice plans, game preparation, schedules, and equipment needs.
• Commitment to supporting students’ academic priorities, character development, and sportsmanship in alignment with school values.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends for practices and games.
• Previous school-based coaching experience and relevant coaching certifications or training are preferred.
