Job summary

Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Project Manager for our Specialty Construction Group in Woodbine, MD. This role supports design/build foundation and geotechnical work across the Mid-Atlantic region.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years in specialty Geotechnical Construction PM, with a BA/BS in construction management, civil engineering, or geology. A background in business development is a plus; strong organization and attention to detail are required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or Geology is preferred.
1–2 years of experience in specialty Geotechnical Construction Project Management is preferred.
Some Business Development experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Review General Contractor Bid Boards and lead platforms to develop prospective leads.
Perform project cost estimates.
Prepare and submit proposals and bid submittals including project experience, staff resumes, equipment lists, work plans, mix designs, pre-qualification forms.
Attend pre-bid meetings and follow up with low bidders to negotiate.
Schedule dispatching of crews and manage project submittals and construction scheduling.
Set up subcontract and rental agreements and participate in pre-construction/progress meetings.
Ensure conformance with design drawings and safety requirements; monitor project budget and costs for profitability.
Perform field visits and safety inspections; manage project invoicing and accounts receivable.
Assist Branch Manager and Project Managers with general administrative duties.
