Job summary

Goldfish Swim School - Washington Park is seeking an Assistant General Manager to lead daily operations, manage a talented team, and ensure successful swim lessons. You will schedule classes, coach staff, and uphold our safety and service standards.

You will drive enrollment goals, deliver training, handle customer concerns, and contribute to a supportive, growth-oriented workplace. A passion for people and community matters, along with lifeguard CPR/AED readiness and CPO certification.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience managing a team in a service environment.
• Ability to coordinate class schedules and staffing.
• Strong focus on customer experience and safety.
• Experience in driving enrollment or sales goals.

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee daily operations to ensure school runs per SOPs.
• Provide sales and marketing training to staff and monitor enrollment targets.
• Create and implement action plans when quarterly goals are off track.
• Ensure class bookings, scheduling, reporting, and curriculum standards are upheld.
• Foster a positive, engaged staff culture with open communication.

As an Assistant General Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the success of our swim lessons by managing and motivating a successful team, coordinating and reviewing class schedules and ensuring you have a school that’s set up for success at every lesson. You’ll guide new team members and families through their first days at Goldfish and be there to support them as they progress in our program and in life.

O-fish-ial Summary: Oversees the quality and success of Goldfish Swim School daily operations including staffing, pool operations, cash management, customer service, retail and vending department, private party operations and workplace employee activities.

Your success in this role will be measured by your ability to:

Direct and control daily operations to ensure the school is running according to Goldfish Swim School’s standard operating procedures

Provide sales and marketing training to staff and stay on track with quarterly and annual enrollment goals and any subsequent goals intended to measure success

Create and implement a plan of action when quarterly and annual goals are off track

Gain high level competency in class bookings, scheduling, reporting and administrative functions as well as the Goldfish Swim School curriculum, swim lesson quality standards and safety standards

Provide a positive staff culture from day 1 and offering open, honest communication in a positive and nurturing environment

Build a team who provides the same quality work as you and doing quality work yourself by cross-training in multiple roles, substituting when necessary and representing Goldfish Swim School’s core values

Do the right things, making the right decisions and treating people with integrity, compassion and trust

Create a workplace that provides fundamental job and life skills for those looking to expand their careers

What else do you need to know?

Everyone in our building is lifeguard CPR & AED certified, so you must be able to swim, passing a basic swim test (50 yards) to earn your certification. All management team members will also obtain their Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification

You will direct and oversee the implementation of the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and all safety procedures for the school

We require schedule availability that includes some weekday evenings (until 8:30pm) and at least one weekend (Saturday or Sunday) shift per workweek and the ability to work the same scheduled days every week (Ex. every Monday from 8:30-4:30)

Work Environment: While performing this job, you will be regularly performing job functions in a pool environment, so you must be able to tolerate exposure to warm, humid settings and chlorinated environment and standing for extended periods of time. Noise level is usually moderate.
