Job summary

Vail Resorts in the United States is seeking an Assistant Manager for its mountain dining operations. The role supports Restaurant Managers with daily operations, staff training, scheduling, and guest service to deliver an exceptional dining experience.

The position pays hourly between $25.00 and $35.20, is full-time during the winter season 2026/2027, and requires 3–5 years of restaurant experience with at least 1 year of supervision.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; advanced degree preferred.
  • ServSafe certification required
  • 3–5 years of restaurant experience, 1+ years of supervisory experience required
  • Ability to stand and walk continuously; lift up to 50 lbs
  • English fluency required; bilingual preferred

Responsibilities

  • Attend to all guest needs in the restaurant ensuring responsive, friendly, and courteous service.
  • Assist managing dining operations and performance for front and back of house, including training, scheduling, and directing staff
  • Review staff performance and behavior to provide feedback and direction, providing recognition or corrective action
  • Assist with administrative duties including hiring, cash management, reservations, purchasing, inventory, and records
  • May act as manager in the absence of Restaurant Manager
  • Maintain facility standards for food preparation, cleanliness, safety, and sanitation in accordance with laws and regulations
  • Participate in leadership forums providing feedback and input on dining operations, training, and continuous improvement opportunities
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; Bachelors or Culinary degree preferred
  • ServSafe certification or regional equivalent required
  • 3-5 years of restaurant experience, 1+ years of supervisory experience required
  • Ability to stand and walk continuously throughout a shift, lift and/or carry up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, holidays, and weekends
  • Must be able to communicate fluently in English; bilingual preferred
  • Ability to ski or snowboard strongly preferred

The expected pay range is $25.00/h - $35.20/h. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
