Assistant General Manager/Director of Events & Operations | Full-Time | Santander Arena

Position Overview

The Assistant General Manager / Director of Events & Operations is responsible for developing, implementing, and executing all aspects of the Reading Royals' business operations, with a focus on sales and marketing. This role acts as a key liaison to the hockey team and ensures compliance with regulations and operational procedures. The position involves establishing strategies and providing leadership to achieve revenue goals and overall team success.

Compensation and Benefits

This role offers an annual salary of $95,000-$110,000 and is bonus eligible. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) plan with matching, and paid time off (vacation, sick days, holidays).

Location and Venue

Santander Arena, located in downtown Reading, PA, hosts a variety of events including concerts and family shows, and is home to the Reading Royals hockey team, affiliated with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage the hockey operations budget, including revenues, expenses, and forecasting.
  2. Oversee ticket sales, marketing, and sales personnel.
  3. Develop and execute sales and marketing plans, including season tickets and group sales.
  4. Implement marketing, advertising, and public relations strategies.
  5. Enhance community relations and outreach efforts.
  6. Build and activate sponsorship assets.
  7. Ensure compliance with league and operational regulations.
  8. Manage merchandise and food & beverage operations.
  9. Lead and oversee team staff.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of management experience in sales and marketing, preferably in professional hockey.
  • Strong communication skills in English.
  • Knowledge of ticketing, marketing, sponsorship, and public relations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, and related software.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
