Job summary

Layne's Chicken Fingers is hiring an Assistant General Manager in Seguin, TX. The AGM will work closely with the GM to oversee daily operations, mentor Shift Managers, and drive performance in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.

The AGM leads by example, guides the team, manages labor and food costs, and ensures every guest experience is close to perfection. Qualified leaders with a passion for people and operations are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of restaurant leadership experience (QSR or fast‑casual preferred).
• Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Food Manager Certification or willingness to obtain.
• Proficient in POS systems and basic Microsoft Office.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

Position Summary

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) plays a key leadership role, supporting the General Manager in overseeing daily operations while mentoring Shift Managers and team members. The AGM helps drive performance, uphold Layne’s standards, and ensure every guest experience is “Perfect Every Time.” This is a hands‑on role for someone who leads by example, thrives in a fast‑paced environment, and is passionate about people and operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Support daily restaurant operations and overall performance
• Assist in hiring, training, and developing team members and Shift Managers
• Lead shifts and provide ongoing coaching and support to the team
• Help manage labor, food cost, and key operational metrics
• Ensure food safety, cleanliness, and service standards are consistently met
• Maintain inventory, ordering, and operational efficiency
• Handle guest concerns quickly and professionally
• Support local marketing efforts and community engagement
• Step in to support the GM as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred
• 2+ years of restaurant leadership experience (QSR or fast‑casual preferred)
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Proficient in POS systems and basic Microsoft Office
• Food Manager Certification or willing to obtain
• Reliable transportation
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
• Must be 18 years of age or older

Our original location in College Station is still open, and our goal is to bring the same small‑town charm, friendly service and iconic chicken fingers & secret sauce to the rest of the world… beyond. Now with more Astro Chicken!
Back in 1994, when people still used fax machines and the term “mullet” was popularized, Mike Layne opened the doors of our original location. The next year, a college student named Mike Garratt came by for lunch and, on his way inside, stopped to clean up the flowerbeds. Mike Layne noticed the gesture and thought Mike Garratt would make a good landscaper, but an even better addition to his Chicken Finger team. The two worked side by side, and as the restaurant’s following grew, Mike Garratt graduated from Texas A&M and became sole owner of Layne’s.
At some point along the way, Astro Chicken was brought on as spiritual guide and all‑around baller. But his importance to the organization could not be denied, and in 2021 Astro Chicken was promoted to CFO – Chief Finger Officer.
Today, with a little help from some of Mike’s friends, we’re bringing Layne’s Soon to be Famous Chicken Fingers to everyone who craves excitement with a side of secret sauce.
