Assistant General Manager (Panera Cafe)

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain a culture of Warmth, Belonging, Growth, and Trust.

• Ensure an extraordinary guest experience and maintain food safety standards.
• Build customer relationships that create loyal patrons.
• Support the GM by making key decisions and solving problems.
• Lead, manage, and develop the team; hire, train, and keep the team motivated.
• Plan and manage staffing, shift scheduling, people development, career development, and succession planning.
• Manage team performance to meet cafe goals and quality standards.
• Build subject‑matter experts by coaching managers and associates and delegating responsibilities.
• Recognize and celebrate individual and team achievements.
• Ensure high‑quality operations and service and continuously improve Panera’s standards of excellence.
• Upgrade operations as needed and motivate the team to meet or exceed cafe goals.
• Adhere to cafe systems, processes, company policies, regulations, and compliance.
• Grow sales, maximize profitability, and maintain costs and inventory.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to direct, motivate, coach, and develop others in a fast‑paced environment.
• Proven ability to drive positive results and run great shifts.
• Demonstrated understanding of the business.
• ServSafe certification.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Excellent communication skills and enjoyment of people.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
• Experience with health and food safety.
• Interest in developing toward a General Manager role.
• Positive attitude towards customers and community impact.
