Zelis is a leader in modernizing the healthcare financial experience. The Assistant General Counsel will advise on data privacy, HIPAA and state privacy law compliance, AI-related issues, and offshore operations.

You’ll partner with IT, product, sales and marketing to implement policies, training, and strong risk management across global teams. This role emphasizes proactive, practical legal guidance with integrity and proactivity.

Qualifications

5+ years of legal experience in law firm or in-house roles with privacy focus
Knowledge of HIPAA, state privacy laws, TCPA, CAN-SPAM
Experience assessing legal risks in data protection, AI and privacy
Experience negotiating commercial contracts with security/privacy provisions
Comfort using AI tools to improve legal workflows

Responsibilities

Provide legal guidance on data rights, privacy, and information security for Zelis
Advise on offshore operations, including client contracts
Monitor changes in privacy laws to counsel business units
Support incident response and regulatory notices related to privacy
Guide marketing, product and privacy teams on tracking technologies and compliance
Draft and review agreements and other legal documents
Deliver timely counsel to internal clients
Identify and assess risk factors in business decisions and operations
Collaborate with outside counsel as needed
