Job summary

Zelis, a leader in healthcare financial technology, seeks an experienced Assistant General Counsel to advise on data privacy, HIPAA, AI, and cybersecurity obligations. You’ll partner with Marketing, Product, and Sales, draft agreements, and guide offshore contracting while actively shaping Zelis’s compliance programs.

Hybrid in-office work and a strong benefits package are provided. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in privacy-law roles, JD, and a proven ability to translate complex regulations

Qualifications

• J.D. degree from an accredited law school and admitted to practice.
• 5+ years of privacy and data use experience, preferably in healthcare.
• Strong knowledge of HIPAA, state privacy laws, TCPA, CAN-SPAM.
• Experience negotiating commercial contracts with security/privacy provisions.
• Ability to provide timely, practical legal counsel to internal clients.
• Proactive, organized, and able to work cross-functional.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on data rights, privacy, security, AI, and data use
• Draft and review agreements and client contracts
• Counsel across technology transactions and offshore operations
• Support incident response and regulatory compliance efforts
• Collaborate with Marketing, Product, and Sales on legal requirements
