Job summary

NewEdge Capital Group in Pittsburgh, PA, seeks an Assistant General Counsel to serve as the right hand to the General Counsel, handling litigation, arbitration, and regulatory-exam matters. You will manage a busy caseload, coordinate with outside counsel, and support NECG’s growing platform.

Domestic travel occasional; background in financial services preferred; you will lead regulatory exams coordination, advise on risk, and mentor junior in-house staff.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active Pennsylvania bar membership.
• 5+ years of litigation experience, in-house and/or law firm.
• Financial services or other regulated industry background preferred.
• Ability to own a matter end-to-end with limited supervision.
• Experience handling subpoenas and third-party discovery demands.
• Excellent legal writing and ability to explain risk clearly.
• Highly organized self-starter; capable of managing multiple matters.
• Willing to travel occasionally with advance notice.

Responsibilities

• Manage NECG’s caseload of litigation, arbitrations, and mediations from intake through resolution.
• Handle pre-litigation disputes and drive efficient resolution.
• Review pleadings, briefs, motions, and discovery; coordinate with outside counsel.
• Prepare witnesses and coordinate logistics for arbitrations and hearings.
• Evaluate litigation reserves with finance team and insurance partners.
• Lead regulatory exams and inquiries; coordinate exam responses and witness preparation.
• Supervise in-house lawyers, paralegals, and outside counsel on litigation matters.
• Advise on litigation exposure and regulatory risk for new products and practices.
• Help build internal processes for litigation management and subpoena response.
• Support broader legal needs as they arise.
