Job summary

Louisiana State University is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to provide legal advice and support to university leadership, faculty, and staff on a broad range of higher-education matters. Working under the General Counsel, you will handle contracts, academic matters, employment issues, due process, and regulatory compliance.

You will also assist with litigation management, policy development, risk mitigation, and governance to protect LSU’s interests while advancing its academic mission.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Six years of legal experience.
• Licensed to practice law in Louisiana or must obtain limited admission for in-house counsel under Louisiana Rule XVII, § 14.

Responsibilities

• Provide general legal guidance to University administration and LSU campuses across Louisiana.
• Review, draft or revise contracts and other agreements.
• Advise on academic matters, employment issues, IP and other university business.
• Coordinate litigation support and assist with investigations as needed.
• Assist with policy development, risk management and governance.
