Job summary

The University of Georgia’s Office of Legal Affairs seeks an Assistant General Counsel to provide general legal advice and counseling to the University’s administrators, faculty, and staff. Reporting to the General Counsel, the attorney will handle contract review, policy interpretation, and risk mitigation for assigned units.

The successful candidate will have a JD and Georgia Bar admission, 2+ years of relevant experience in higher education law, and the ability to relocate to the Athens area

Qualifications

• JD and State Bar membership required.
• Experience in higher education law preferred.
• 2+ years of relevant experience; 7+ years for Associate General Counsel role is noted as a different position in the source.

Responsibilities

• General legal advice and counseling to assigned university units.
• Contract review, policy interpretation, and training on relevant legal matters.
• Other duties assigned by General Counsel.
