Job summary

Louisiana State University seeks an Assistant General Counsel to provide comprehensive legal advice to university leadership, faculty and staff on contracts, academic matters, employment issues, Title IX, regulatory compliance, IP, real estate and governance.

You will draft and review contracts, advise on policy, oversee litigation support and investigations, manage public records responses, and assist with risk mitigation under the direction of the General Counsel.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Six years of legal experience.
• Licensed to practice law in Louisiana or must obtain limited admission under Louisiana Supreme Court Rule XVII, § 14.

Responsibilities

• Provides general legal guidance to University administration and LSU campuses across the State of Louisiana.
• Advises on interpretation of federal and state laws and regulations, and policies.
• Reviews, drafts or revises contracts and other agreements.
• Advises on academic matters, student matters, employment issues, IP and other University business.
• Coordinates preparation for administrative hearings involving University administrators/committees.
• Assists with monitoring and providing litigation support.
• Assists with internal investigations as needed.
• Manages responses to requests for public records.
• Other duties as assigned by the Vice President and General Counsel.
